SCHOOL IN CHINA

Ven. Shi Deyang's school was established in 1995 to meet the societal demand for secular training outside the monastery. Although it is a school, it also serves as the reserve force for the Shaolin Monastery, and is therefore named "Shaolin Monastery Warrior Monks Reserve Force".
Members combine the traditional physical and spiritual training of Shaolin Warrior Monks with secular lifestyles. After years of training, some may became school coaches or enter the monastery as ordained monks.
The school is located at the entrance to the city Dengfeng in Henan Province, China, nearby Shaolin Monastery. It welcomes about 100 young, often poor students from the surrounding area. These domestic students live in the school's dormitory and follow a study program that includes Shaolin Wugong training, Chan Philosophy, and General Education lasting from 5:30am to 9:30pm, six days per week.
Classes are divided by age and experience/skill level, and led by a team of expert resident coaches, personal disciples of Ven. Shi Deyang who directs the school and supervises all instruction.
Foreign students are also welcome at the school. Ven. Shi Deyang and his disciples can organize individual and group lessons for visitors interested in experiencing Traditional Shaolin Culture.
